Rhetoric 1302 Resources for Students

Guide to library resources for students of RHET 1302.

A database is a collection of abstracts, indexes, full text documents (ebooks, articles, statistics, conference papers), or digital media (images, video, audio, maps). Content is created and managed by publishers and / or indexing services, and searching is hosted by their own licensed platform or database vendors like Ebsco and ProQuest.

While some databases are broad and multi-disciplinary in scope, most specialize in a given subject area. Click the Databases tile on the Library homepage and choose from the "Select a Subject" list for a shortlist of recommended databases, or use the A-Z listing if you have a specific database in mind.

Databases allow you to target your search to certain subject areas or academic disciplines. They are a great source for articles, particularly from peer-reviewed/scholarly journals, in a variety of subjects. Starting on the library homepage, click the Databases tile.

Select the databases tile on the library homepage to find library databases for your research subject.

Look for Best Bets and Powersearches in each subject.

Recommended databases:

Subject Powersearches – Search multiple databases with content in the same subject area at once.
A good place to start to get a broad picture of the literature available in a subject area.

Gale OpposingViewpoints – Supports science, social studies, current events, language arts. Includes debated issues, pro/con viewpoints, reference articles, interactive maps, and infographics.
